Choose the job before the app
A collection of research pages needs different things from a queue of weekend recipes. Start with what must happen after you press Save: keep a copy of the page, read it comfortably, organise a shared collection, or return to a useful fragment from your phone.
This comparison is published by Potom’s developer. It describes documented capabilities checked on 18 September 2026, not a hands-on benchmark or an independent ranking. The point is to help you choose a suitable workflow, including when another tool is the better fit.

These are starting points, not exclusive categories. A mobile app can also archive pages, and a self-hostable service can offer a managed cloud option. Avoid choosing from a comparison that reduces every product to one feature.
Karakeep: a broad library with several ways to retrieve things
Karakeep documents link, note, image and PDF saving, full-page archives, AI tagging, and keyword, hybrid and semantic search. It also offers a reading view and highlights. That makes it worth evaluating when you want a general collection whose contents can be revisited in several ways.
It offers cloud hosting as well as self-hosting. You do not have to run a server merely because the project is open source. Check the current offering for the devices and features you need; this article does not freeze a price or subscription limit that may change.
Linkwarden: page preservation and shared collections
Linkwarden describes page preservation in several formats, a reader with annotations, collections that can be shared with others, and import and export. It also has official mobile apps; treating it as a desktop-only tool would be misleading.
If preservation is your reason for switching, test a saved copy, not just the bookmark. Check the text, images and any information you actually need. A page containing an embedded service, login or interactive element may require more than a static capture.

Potom: keeping the useful part of a find on Android
Potom starts with the Android Share workflow. A supported source can become a card that keeps the original link with context you can edit and find later by meaning. That is useful when your finds include videos, recipes and tools as well as articles.
Potom should not be chosen on the assumption that every linked page or video becomes a complete offline archive. Public source access affects analysis. Ordinary AI analysis and memory questions use server processing; the protected document area is a separate local feature. Check the privacy policy before deciding what to send.
Use five real items to make the decision
- Choose a long article, a short post, a useful video, a reference page and one item you often lose.
- Save them using the device you normally have in your hand.
- Check what was captured and what still depends on the original.
- Come back later and search using the detail you remember.
- Check export, deletion and recovery before moving a large collection.
Keep a simple record: did capture work, could you find the item, and did it contain enough to be useful? A product that wins your own small trial is a better choice than one that wins a feature-count contest. Keep the original export until you have checked the move.
