How to find saved Instagram Reels and old videos on Android

Where should you look for a saved Reel?

Start in the Saved area of your Instagram profile and check your collections. A liked post, a saved post and a downloaded video are different things. Make sure you are signed into the account you used when saving it. Menu labels and positions can vary between app versions.

1. Saved deliberately: check saved posts and collections in the original app.
2. Only liked or sent to someone: check your activity or the conversation where you shared it.
3. Opened in a browser: search history and bookmarks using the creator, topic or a word from the title.
4. Downloaded as a file: check Downloads and your gallery. A saved collection is not a local backup.

Potom cannot automatically search your existing Instagram collections. Once you recover a post, share its link with Potom. This does not restore a deleted post or grant access to private content.

Recover an old save before changing your system

Start with the app where the item probably lived. Search YouTube playlists and Watch Later, browser history and bookmarks, Telegram self-chats, then Instagram or TikTok saved collections. Use the topic, intended use, creator, place, or one unusual word.

• What was it about?
• What did you want to do with it?
• Which app probably held it?
• Do you remember a person, place, product, or unusual phrase?

Do not reorganize your whole archive while searching. Recover the one item first. If the original was deleted, made private, region-blocked, or never saved, no bookmark app can recreate it.

If the link is still in browser bookmarks

Import a compatible HTML bookmark export into Potom. Duplicate links are removed and folder names become initial tags. Accessible articles receive extracted text and a summary. This does not open your old Instagram or TikTok collections: find those items in the source app and share them separately.

For future saves, keep one sentence of context

Folders are useful for stable areas such as Recipes, Trips, Work, or Purchases. They are poor at predicting the question you will ask later. Add a short reason beside anything you expect to revisit.

This sentence is more valuable than a perfect taxonomy. It gives ordinary search, semantic search, or your future self a clue that survives after the title is forgotten.

Use Android Share as one consistent entrance

Android already provides a common route between apps: Share. Choose one dependable destination for items that truly matter instead of deciding between five storage places every time.

1. Share the public link, post, video, image, or document.
2. Keep the source together with a short explanation.
3. Add a tag or space only when it is obvious.
4. Search later with the fragment you actually remember.

What this looks like in Potom

The goal is not a bigger archive

A useful library is not the one with the most saves. It is the one that returns the right item when a real need appears. Save less indiscriminately, keep the reason, and reopen one old item every week.

If a method makes capture effortless but retrieval impossible, it only moves the problem. Judge your system by successful returns, not by the size of the Saved counter.

Example: remembering a recipe but not the video title

Suppose you are looking for a saved pasta recipe with roasted tomatoes. These are example queries for your library, not a promise to find a video that was never added to Potom.

1. Start with a concrete detail: “pasta with roasted tomatoes”. If nothing appears, try “tomato sauce” or another ingredient you clearly remember.
2. Add your intended use: “pasta recipe for the weekend”. This can help when you saved a similar note with the link.
3. Ask your memory: “Which tomato recipes did I save?” Open the answer’s sources and compare them with the material you wanted.
4. If the item is missing, check the original app, browser history and messages to yourself. Share the recovered video with Potom.

Check the account and selected space: a filter may hide the card you need. Make sure the material was saved and processed. Add one memorable detail to the recovered card so it is easier to find next time.
