Keep the GitHub project from a video review

A tool name is only part of the find

A review demonstrates an open-source tool, but its link is buried in the comments or missing altogether. Save the original video in Potom. The explanation of why the tool caught your attention stays beside the potential repository link.

How a GitHub link reaches the card

When Potom recognises a project with sufficient confidence, it looks for a suitable repository and compares the name with the purpose of the tool. A confirmed match can add the repository link to the card.

A shared word is not enough: different projects can have the same name. Some tools are closed source or hosted elsewhere. If no reliable link is found, the original source and description still help you continue the search.

Example: LocalSend

LocalSend is an open-source project for transferring files between devices on a local network. The homepage demonstrates how a review of such a tool can connect to its repository. It is a prepared example, not a recording of a completed server analysis.

At the repository, check the purpose, documentation, licence and installation options. A saved link shortens the route to the project; you still need to assess whether it fits your work.

Keep your working context

• The problem you wanted to solve.
• The alternative you wanted to compare it with.
• The part of the review worth watching again.
• The reason you postponed trying the project.

A phrase such as “move files between my phone and laptop” may be easier to remember than the exact repository name. Add that context while it is fresh.

Return by asking about the task
